Miliary or disseminated TB occurs when tubercle bacilli spread throughout the body, through the bloodstream, resulting in small (approximately 1 to 2 mm) granulomatous lesions. Miliary TB is seen more commonly in infants, children less than 4 years old, and in immunocompromised people.
